About Us

Currently one of the most active student branches in the Lebanon Section, IEEE University of Balamand Student Branch was formed with a team of less than 10 student volunteers in 2016. As of 2024, we are a family of over 150 students with 3 active IEEE societies. With an abundance of outstanding talent from different domains, our student branch focuses on providing opportunities to those who wish to make a mark in their fields. The community consists of like-minded students and fosters the ideology of creating an impact on this world.

IEEE UOB SB stands as a vibrant hub for events and collaboration, led by President Bachir Kabbara, a Computer Engineering student with a passion for technology. Under the guidance of our dedicated IEEE Advisor, Mr. Michael Salem, we thrive in our pursuits. At UOB, we proudly host 3 societies:

  • IEEE Women in Engineering, led by Takla Sassine, an Electrical Engineering Masters student, and advised by Dr. Katia Karam.
  • IEEE Computer Society, led by Computer Engineering student Karim Najjar and advised by Dr. Rodrigue Imad.
  • IEEE Power and Energy Society, presided over by Ali Chrakie, an Electrical Engineering Masters student, and advised by Dr. Majed Najjar.

Together, we embody the spirit of advancement and community within the field of engineering.
